The concentration in Music Performance is for students who display a high caliber of skill and desire to pursue a career in solo and ensemble performance, accompanying, or college or private teaching. Students study their primary instrument (voice, piano, organ, wind instruments, string instruments, percussion instruments) closely with seasoned faculty who are also skilled performers.
Music students perform in student recitals each semester. Applied professors help select those pieces appropriate for performance, and coach the student. Those students who choose the performance concentration will perform a juried 30-minute recital during their junior year and a juried 60-minute recital during their senior year.
All music majors and minors also study and must pass basic piano proficiency.
